Metro access has become one of the first questions Bangalore buyers ask about any home. This Namma Metro expansion guide for home buyers sets out which lines run today, which are close to opening, and which remain on the drawing board, with a focus on North Bangalore and the Hebbal–Nagawara belt. Timelines have shifted more than once, so we give the latest dates as of September 2026 and explain how to treat them. Below, we cover each line, the key interchanges, and how to factor the network into a buying decision.

The Network Today

Namma Metro runs three operational lines. The Purple Line runs east–west across the city, the Green Line north–south through the centre, and the Yellow Line connects RV Road with Bommasandra towards Electronic City. Together they carry large numbers of commuters daily, but coverage in the north beyond the city centre remains limited, which is why the lines now under construction matter so much there.

Pink Line Nagawara

The Pink Line Nagawara terminus will give North Bangalore its first direct north–south metro link through the city. Its 21.26 km route runs from Kalena Agrahara on Bannerghatta Road to Nagawara on the Outer Ring Road (ORR), with 18 stations. It opens in two stages: the 7.5 km above-ground section from Kalena Agrahara to Tavarekere, with six stations, is ready for inauguration and expected to open in late 2026, while the 13.76 km underground section from Tavarekere to Nagawara, with 12 stations, is expected around March 2027.

Nagawara station will also serve the Blue Line, creating an interchange about 3.5 km from Misty Waters in Kempapura.

Blue Line Airport Metro Status

The Blue Line airport metro status is the question most North Bangalore buyers ask. Phase 2B runs 17 stations from KR Puram through Kasturi Nagar, Horamavu, HRBR Layout, Kalyan Nagar, HBR Layout, Nagawara, Veerannapalya, and Kempapura to Hebbal, then north through Kodigehalli, Jakkur Cross, Yelahanka, Bagalur Cross, Bettahalasur, Doddajala, and Airport City to KIAL Terminals. As of September 2026, no section has opened. The Hebbal–airport section is targeted for September 2027, and in August 2026 the full corridor's completion moved from December 2027 to March 2028. Our Kempapura metro station guide tracks the dates for the stations nearest Misty Waters.

Planned Lines

Further lines are in the pipeline. The approved Orange Line, part of Phase 3, will include a corridor from Kempapura to JP Nagar 4th Phase, meeting the Blue Line near Hebbal. A proposed Red Line, from Hebbal to Sarjapura, would add a north–south route through the city centre; the state approved its detailed project report in December 2024, a revised report followed in February 2026, and Union approval is awaited. If both arrive, Hebbala station would become a three-line interchange.

What It Means for Home Buyers

Metro access tends to support both rents and values near stations over time, but the effect builds gradually, and much of it is priced in before opening. We suggest three rules. Buy a home that works without the metro, since timelines slip. Favour homes within about 1–1.5 km of a planned station. And weigh interchange stations highly, because they multiply the destinations you can reach.

For Misty Waters, the upcoming Kempapura station is about 1 km away, Veerannapalya about 2.3 km, and Hebbala about 2 km, with Nagawara's Pink and Blue Line interchange a little further east. Our analysis of how the metro could affect Hebbal prices looks at values in more detail.

Last-Mile Links

A station only helps if you can reach it easily. Before counting on the metro, walk or drive from the home to the planned station at the hour you would travel. Check pavements, crossings, and whether autos or feeder buses serve the route. Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL) has run feeder buses on several operational lines, and bike and scooter sharing is common near busy stations, but coverage varies. Station parking is often limited, so homes within walking distance, roughly 1 km, gain the most. From Misty Waters, the Kempapura station site is about that distance away, reachable via the Outer Ring Road service road.

How to Track Progress

Watch for trial runs and the Commissioner of Metro Rail Safety inspection, which must clear each section before passengers board. Announcements from BMRCL on these milestones are the most reliable guide to real opening dates. See the location page for distances from Misty Waters to each station.
