Kempapura sits on one of Bangalore's busiest and most useful roads. Good Kempapura Outer Ring Road connectivity puts residents about 2 km from the Hebbal flyover, about 2.5 km from Manyata Embassy Business Park, and within easy reach of NH-44 for the airport. The same road also carries heavy office traffic, so knowing how the local network works makes a real difference to daily travel. Below, we map the main routes, explain recent flyover changes, and share practical tips for residents of estates such as Misty Waters and for buyers testing a commute.
The Outer Ring Road (ORR) loops around Bangalore, linking the major office belts. In the north, it runs east from Hebbal through Kempapura, Veerannapalya, and Nagawara past Manyata Tech Park, then on towards Hennur, HBR Layout, and KR Puram. At Hebbal, it meets NH-44 (Bellary Road), the main road north to Kempegowda International Airport, and the Tumkur Road link to the west.
For Kempapura, that means two main directions: west to Hebbal for the city and the airport, and east along the ORR for Manyata, Karle Town Centre, and the eastern office belt.
Destination | Route | Approx. distance | Off-peak drive |
|---|---|---|---|
Hebbal flyover | ORR west | ~2 km | 5–7 min |
Kirloskar Business Park | ORR west, Bellary Road | ~2 km | 6–8 min |
Manyata Embassy Business Park | ORR east | ~2.5 km | 7–10 min |
Karle Town Centre | ORR east, Nagawara | ~3.5 km | 9–12 min |
MG Road | Hebbal, Bellary Road south | ~11 km | 30–40 min |
KR Puram | ORR east | ~13 km | 30–40 min |
Kempegowda International Airport | Hebbal, NH-44 north | ~30 km | 40–50 min |
Distances are measured from Misty Waters; peak-hour times can be much longer.
Most homes in Kempapura connect to the main carriageway through the ORR service road Kempapura residents use every day. Estates sit set back from the arterial road, reached through side streets off the service road. At Misty Waters, for example, the approach runs past Bethel AG Church, then north towards Jain Heritage School, with the gate on 4th Cross Road in Thimakka Layout.
That set-back layout has a practical benefit: homes gain quick access to the ORR while staying away from the noise and fumes of the main road. When visiting any home here, drive the service-road approach at peak hour to see how long it takes to join the main flow. A second visit on a Sunday shows the quieter side of the same route.
The Hebbal junction has long been one of the city's busiest traffic points, and several changes have arrived recently. Here is the latest Hebbal flyover traffic update. In August 2025, a 750-metre loop opened to help vehicles coming from Nagawara enter the city more smoothly. A further loop, opened for trial on 20 December 2025 and inaugurated in early January 2026, eased city entry from Yelahanka, Jakkur, and Sahakar Nagar, and early reports suggested congestion fell by nearly 25%.
More projects are planned, including a short underground bypass near the flyover and a tunnel with a raised road corridor on the Hebbal–Mekhri Circle stretch. Our guide to upcoming infrastructure projects in Hebbal covers these in detail.
Road access will soon be joined by rail. The Blue Line's Phase 2B will run along the ORR with stations at Veerannapalya (about 2.3 km from Misty Waters) and Kempapura (about 1 km), before reaching Hebbala at the flyover. Current targets put the Hebbal–airport section at September 2027 and the full corridor through Kempapura at March 2028. Once open, it will give residents a way to reach the airport and the eastern ORR without using the road network at all.
Until the metro opens, residents rely on buses along the ORR and Bellary Road, app-based cabs, and autos for short hops. Hebbal railway station sits about 1.5 km from Misty Waters. Most residents use it only occasionally. Cab availability is generally good given the office traffic in the area, but surge pricing is common at peak hours and during rain. Many households therefore keep a two-wheeler for short trips to Manyata, Kirloskar Business Park, or the shops at Esteem Mall, about 1.8 km away.
Leave a little earlier or later than the office peak where possible, since even 15 minutes can change travel times noticeably. For airport trips, allow a buffer during weekday evenings. Check live traffic before setting off, especially after rain, when parts of the ORR can slow. Keep a rain plan, too: an umbrella in the car, a backup cab app, and a little extra time. And if you work at Manyata or Kirloskar Business Park, test cycling or walking on good-weather days; the distances from Kempapura are short enough to make it practical. Our guide on how long it takes from Hebbal to the airport covers airport trips in more depth, and the location page lists all distances.
